Snowpack Report from Idaho

We attended a Middle Fork of the Salmon outfitter meeting in Stanley, Idaho this week. The mountains are covered in snow and the valley itself has one of the deepest snowpacks we’ve seen in years. The official snowpack is about 108% of average but it looks like a lot more.

If you’ve been waiting for a big water year, this is it. Our season gets underway with a 4-day Middle Fork trip on June 3 followed by a combination Middle Fork/Main trip on June 12. That one covers 185 miles in only 6 days. Hang on! Click here to view our the entire 2008 schedule of trips.

If you like guessing what the peak high water flow will be, there is a contest at www.MiddleForkContest.com. Enter the contest to win a bunch of cool prizes!

We need an experienced middle fork rafter (with equip) for a June 1st launch date. The water is going to be HIGH so we want to make sure they would be comfortable paddling at that level. Please contact me if you are interested.
